John's classical background on piano and theoretical knowledge have been a great support in playing for dancing.  In doing so, he is following a family tradition: both his father and grandmother before him performed on the side as dance band pianists.  Both had the instinct and ability to use a piano to get feet tapping, and John hopes that he has inherited some of this.
